Holding Steadfast
Emma's flowers began making their journey above ground in January this year.
12 years ago they were given to her on Easter, shortly before she passed away.
After we sold our home in 2007, Eli dig up the bulbs and we planted them at our new house.
Every year, right around the time we move into a new season, they bloom. This year we had abnormally high temperatures all winter and Emma's flowers rose early. They had withered away by the time they normally are beginning to bloom. When I first noticed them breaking through the earth in January I exclaimed "No!", not yet!
I wanted their arrival to stay the same as always, closer to the time of Emma's earthly departure.
But things rarely stay the same. There are seasons of life and waves of change. This year for the first time, Emma's flowers bloomed in what was supposed to be winter.
I'm reminded of Gods faithfulness even when things don't make sense. He is in every detail and hears us when we cry out for mercy.
Hold steadfast.
Things will always change and often life will not make sense, but His love never changes.
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble. Psalms 31:9.
And He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalms 31:24.
